THE FIVE BEST MOVIES
FOR EASTER
They went through the darkness to ascend to the light. People who kept their faith until their last breath, but suffered for it. We present to your attention an overview of five the best films about fortitude and hope for Easter day.
THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST (MEL GIBSON, 2004)
Historical drama, telling about the last twelve hours of the life of Jesus Christ (James Caviezel), preceding to crucify him. One of the most difficult and complex paintings about lies and betrayal, which kill a pure soul, but lift it to the light through the thorns of pain. The film is about the tragedy of all mankind, which is bathed in the blood of its sins , in the person of the only person, Christ, and he gave his soul in the name of people, without asking for anything in return.
THE GOSPEL FROM MATTHEW / II VANGELO SECONDO MATTEO (PIERRE PAOLO PAZOLINI, 1964)
A controversial drama based on the Gospel of Matthew (the first book of the New Testament - author's note ) from one of the most daring and rebellious filmmakers tells the story of the life of Jesus Christ (Enrique Irazoka). In a black and white atmosphere, the character of the main character is revealed, tired and, it seems, alienated from the world: he seems to be in a hurry somewhere, hastily pronouncing the canonical text, as if he knows that his tragic will soon come the end. Non-professional actors, semi-documentary manner of shooting make the picture realistic, alive, and turn each viewer into a participant in the events and leave a deep mark on the soul.
THE LAST TEMPTATION OF CHRIST (MARTIN SCORSEZE, 1988)
An interesting new reading of the story of Christ (Daniel Defoe), presented in the form of a carpenter, planing crosses on which the Roman authorities crucify criminals. He constantly rushes about in search of his true destiny, realizing that he has been chosen, but for what? Jesus - in the fetters of constant doubts and experiences: what is good and what is evil? Whom to serve: angel go to the devil? His restless soul ultimately chooses the difficult path of love for people as they are, which means let suffering, and he himself is crucified on the cross. An ambiguous picture about finding your place in life, about faith and hope to the last drop of blood.
THE FOUNTAIN (DARREN ARONOFSKY, 2006)
A parable film into which the biblical story of the Tree of Life is subtly interwoven (an image from the Book of Genesis, a tree in the Garden of Eden and its fruits give endless life - ed.), And a modern story about the search for a cure for cancer, which slowly takes life , and a historical plot about a brave conquistador (Hugh Jackman) who wants to save his queen, and interspersed with an esoteric teaching about eternal life. But all these lines have one thing in common - the desire to unravel the complex mysteries of life and death, to believe in a miracle to the last end. A complex surrealistic picture, which, it seems, does not immediately lend itself to any description, but most importantly, it carries the light of love that emanates from the main characters: it elevates them, as he exalted Christ. Finding the Tree - this is the search for truth, meaning by each person and his ups and downs on the way to them.
NOAH (Darren Aronofsky, 2014)
Another strong film directed by the director, which tells the story of the biblical character Noah (Russell Crowe), who builds an ark for his family, animals, birds to survive the great flood. Aronofsky slightly changed the plot, but left the main meaning - fight for your faith and hope for the last end. With the director's inherent expressive manner of shooting and editing (playing on associations, shots quickly replace each other), a lively and emotional picture of the Lord is obtained, who puts strength in a person so that he never gives up before the burden of life. The most important thing - try to hear the voice of Christ in your soul, which will lead you on the right path.
