What is pain? Maybe this is healing, an attempt to become stronger than you are? These and other questions are trying to answer Maria Brink, the vocalist of the American metalcore group In This Moment , in the new video "Roots" from the latest album "Ritual" 2017.

Continuing mystical themes Records: spells, witch, ritual magic, the video shows a mysterious atmosphere of Maria in the darkness, in a cassock, as the triple goddess (in mythological-poetic treatise "The White Goddess" by English writer Robert Graves' 1948 is a great female deity, central in the cult Wicca, a Western neo-pagan religion based on reverence for nature - ed.). It combines three principles together: the Girl, the personification of tenderness and purity, the Mother, the symbol of full life, and the Old Woman - wisdom, maturity. So Brink appears before you as blameless  a maiden with her hair down and at the same time a beast, a witch. She is filled with life and sexuality . At the same time, a wise real woman speaks in her, whose strength lies in the knowledge and pain that she has experienced.

"I bite harder. My blade is sharper. My roots, my roots penetrate deep into the void. I accelerate faster. I scream much louder. My roots, my roots penetrate deep into the void. I am stronger than I ever knew. I am stronger because of you." I hit it much louder. I send you to hell even more. My roots, my roots go deep into the void ... " - whispers, screams Brink in his powerful voice. At the same time, he does not shout at high notes, as usual, but, on the contrary, uses low notes.

She again reveals the theme of struggle and survival in spite of everything, the main one in her lyrics, as, for example, in the song "The Fighter" (album "Black Widow" 2014 - ed.) And not only, which is a reflection of her a difficult life with ups and downs, but always striving for a dream. Therefore, "Roots" is not replete with symbols and magic, like the previous one. "Oh Lord" from the same album, but on the contrary is restrained, because it focuses on the image of Mary  and her experiences. There is nothing superfluous, only you are alone with pain, fighting demons to the bitter end.  The video takes you into a special world of subtle emotions, thoughts, depressive states that can be overcome for the sake of the sun of life, and if you are a fighter, then it will shine brighter for you.
