Flower of Life

Blossomed in the paintings of the artist Rustam Sardalov . In his works, he seeks to show what a bright, but dark life our soul lives.

When we look
watercolors  artist, they seem emotional, weightless. On the one hand, they refer us to I. Bunin's story "Easy Breathing"  (1916) and seem to be saturated with oxygen. They have some kind of airiness: the colors are bright and blurred at the same time.

They reflect elusive dreams
and pleasant  fantasies that live in us. Rustam subtly mixes them with dark colors and creates an illusory world where our  dreams , both good and bad. On the other hand, we face a different, mysterious reality. In her, sensations are heated to the limit, and  fears  take on unusual forms, as in the work of Edgar Allan Poe ( American writer, poet and literary critic of the 19th century - author's note).

Images in the works "Fall", "Memento mori", "Ghost", "Anger"  fantastic, grotesque and permeated with mysticism. They are like a hymn  decadence  (mental decline), in which pain and loneliness are concentrated. Experiences are stretched like a thread: just a little more and it will break. But it seems that some invisible force is holding her.  The heroes either freeze in a scream, split in two, then focus on their deep feelings. As if they are fighting  conscious  and  unconscious . Therefore, the paintings are not static, but are in constant dynamics. They seem to live for the moment, like the last time:  emotions  want to break out of the canvas. Will they be able to do it?

Rustam's graphics sometimes remind
phantasmagoria  ( freaky  visions  and fantasies - approx. author ). We fall into  surreal  world: at first glance, everything seems chaotic, absurd, as in the films of director David Lynch ("Eraser Head"  1977, "Twin Peaks"  1990-1991 - approx. author) . If you look closely, you can feel that the experiences in the paintings are not splashed, but concentrated. These are pure, real emotions here and now, which are expressed in the manner of the author's painting. His movements seem to be hysterical, as if screaming. He makes often sharp, ragged  strokes , as if blurring their characters. Maybe because they are somewhere in the world of dreams, exist and do not exist at the same time?

The plot in the pictures is confused, probably because it came out of our unconscious. Unrealized dreams, strange states - all this is subtly embodied in black and white (sometimes with the use of bright shades) illusions. It seems that a dark, complex atmosphere is created in front of us, because in it we are faced with our frightening "I". Psychedelic works: "Thoughts"
about getting into the maelstrom of your thoughts, "Fiery Energy"  - about insane energy that can turn into ash, etc.

Heroes, objects strangely interact with each other, then attracting, then repelling. It seems that they reveal the contradictions that arise in a person's relationship with himself and with the world around him. This is probably what life is about.  An unusual flower of life blooms in the artist's hands. He has bizarre shapes that are constantly changing. Maybe because it reflects the states of our soul and they are sometimes so difficult to understand? Its light and dark sides connect together, and we have to be torn between them. What we choose is up to us.
